"Let the beauty we love be what we do." - Rumi
Photography is my way of finding and falling in love. In the high school darkroom I first fell in love with the magic, and power of photography. Moving from Boston to Tulsa, twenty four years ago, was a difficult adjustment that reconnected me to photography. Through the lens of a camera I developed a deeper way of seeing that allows me to focus on the often unnoticed details and beauty within us and around us. From wide landscapes and urbanscapes, to the detailed textures found in nature, or wrinkles on skin, photography has helped me appreciate where I am.
Being here, in the center of America I observe a rich confluence of cultures, communities and conflicts out of which our national spirit was forged. Tulsa is at the end of the trail of tears, the home of what was one of the most promising Black communities, and one of America’s worst race massacres. It is the diversity of people shaped by their hopes, hardships and the land itself that inspire me to create, to use my work to share stories, find beauty, and fall in love over and over again.
I love sharing my passion through teaching, and in addition to fine art photography, I offer down-to-earth, documentary style photography and portraiture for people who are interested in capturing organic moments that will reflect their lives as they truly are. Whether you are booking a one hour session or a full day in the life shoot my goal is to create a relaxed, fun and collaborative experience where everyone can feel at ease to be themselves. It is important to me that you end up with photos that you love, that you can hold in your hand, see on your walls, or in a special album, and they can remind you of the sometimes chaotic, often ordinary, but always love-filled moment that make up your life.
